Supporting Island Families:

Vectis Business Link Partners with Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight

Alzheimer Cafe Team outside the Parklands Centre

Vectis Business Link is proud to announce Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight as our official sponsored charity.

As an established network of local business owners, our focus has always been on trusted relationships, collaboration and supporting the local community. Through this new partnership, our members will be working closely with the charity to raise awareness of their vital work and help reach more local families who need guidance and support.

A Partnership Built on Mutual Support

Dementia touches many lives across the Isle of Wight. The Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight, along with the Parklands Dementia Resource Centre in Cowes, provides essential support, practical advice and a welcoming space for individuals, families and carers navigating life with dementia.

The idea to support the charity came from group member Sarah Moss of Jack Up Events and Retro Staycations, who nominated Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight after seeing first-hand the positive impact Parklands has had on her own family.

This initiative is designed to work both ways:

  • Raising awareness across the Island: VBL members will share information about the charity's local cafés and the Parklands Centre through their own client networks, physical premises and customer communications.

  • Building dementia-friendly businesses: The charity's experienced team will provide training and practical advice to our members, helping local businesses across various sectors recognise when a customer may be living with dementia and respond with care, understanding and confidence.

Working Together for the Island Community

Maggie Bennett, CEO of Alzheimer Café Isle of Wight, welcomed the support:

"We are delighted to have been chosen as Vectis Business Link's sponsored charity. We are incredibly grateful for the support of this fantastic Island-wide business network and look forward to working together over the coming months.

This partnership is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness of dementia, share knowledge and practical advice, and help more people across the Isle of Wight discover the support and services available to them."

By combining the reach of local business owners with the expert guidance of the Alzheimer Café team, we hope to ensure no one on the Island has to navigate dementia alone.
